Health-related areas

  • Clinical training, such as a professional degree in Nursing or Physical Therapy
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in disciplines related to the prevention of chronic disease, such as the behavioral sciences, exercise physiology, nutrition, health economics, and medical sociology
  • Work experience in health-related organizations, including public health departments, health insurance plans, medical care organizations, worksite health promotion programs, and charitable health foundations
  • Work experience or degree(s) in areas outside of health, where the applicant’s proposed career path merges public health and non-health disciplines, for example, public health law, urban planning (e.g., the relationship between built environment and health), and parks and recreation (e.g., the health promoting aspects of exposure to natural environments)
