MPH Program:

The deadline to apply for Fall 2019 admission is April 1st, 2019.

  • Applicants to the MPH program should submit their application through SOPHAS.
  • Application open on August 17th, 2018.
  • Applications to the traditional two-year MPH are accepted on a rolling basis; the earlier an applicant applies, the earlier they will be reviewed.
  • UIUC's MPH program only accepts applications for Fall terms; we do not have Spring or Summer term start dates.
  • SOPHAS APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

      • Three Letters of Recommendation
      • Unofficial Transcripts (from student)
      • *Official Transcripts (from institution) TOEFL or IELTS scores (international students only)

      * TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED to be sent directly to SOPHAS from all U.S. and English-speaking Canadian institutions.

      * If you attended a foreign school or earned your degree outside of the United States, you must have your foreign coursework evaluated by the World Educational Services (WES). SOPHAS will only accept evaluations obtained directly from WES. For more information, please visit this page.

      BS-MPH Joint Degree Program:

      For students interested in the BS-MPH program, the upcoming deadline to apply for Fall 2019 admission is January 1st, 2019 by 5:00 p.m.

      Only students who are Seniors during 2018-2019 in Kinesiology, Community Health, or I-Health at UIUC may apply for this application cycle.

      • All materials, including letters of recommendation and submission of official transcripts, must be complete by the deadline time and date to be considered for admission.
      • Applicants must be able to complete all BS requirements by Summer 2019 in order to advance to the MPH in Fall 2019. See application instructions or FAQ for more information about the BS-MPH.

      MPH PROGRAM SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION:

      "Personal Information" section:

      • Fill out requested information regarding your name, birthdate, mailing address, etc.

      "Residency Information" section:

      • Select your birth city and country

      "Proposed Program Information" section:

      • Select "Kinesiology and Community Health" as the proposed program
      • Select "Master of Public Health-BS/MPH Joint program" as the degree
      • Click "Yes" if you are interested in pursuing the BS-MPH joint degree program
      • Term: Select Fall 2019 as the term you are submitting your application for

      "Academic History" section:

      • Fill out the requested information on all of the universities you have attended or are currently attending.
      • Upload unofficial transcripts (your own copies) from all colleges you have attended, including community colleges.
      • Request official transcripts from all colleges to be sent directly from the college(s) to: mph-admissions@ahs.illinois.edu
      • If your college does not send electronic transcripts, request sealed paper copies be sent directly from the registrar to:

        Note that "official" transcripts must be sent, sealed, directly from the institution. Copies obtained or opened by students are not official.

        "Test Scores" section:

        • Enter Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Scores
          • Required of all applicants except BS-MPH.
          • There is no minimum score required for admission.
          • We do not accept other exams (MCAT, GMAT, etc.) in place of the GRE
        • Enter TOEFL or IELTS scores if you are an international applicant.

        "Resume" section:

        • In this section, please upload a current version of your resume or CV.

        "Personal Statement" section:

        • Your Personal Statement should explain, in a two-page essay, why you want an MPH degree and how an MPH degree fits into your career plans.

        "References" section:

        • You will need to provide the name and contact information for three references, preferably from academic sources (professors) or public health-related work. We strongly recommend you to obtain at least two letters from professors who taught you.
        • Each reference will receive an email asking them to submit their letters in our online system. A secure link will be provided to each reference.
        • Letters of recommendation should be posted on-line by the letter writers as specified in the application instructions.
        • You do not have to wait for your letters to be complete to submit your application. The letters will automatically update when they are sent to the online system. It is recommended to submit your application well before the deadline, even if your letters of recommendation have not been submitted yet.

        Application Fees

        After you submit your online application, you will be prompted to pay a non-refundable application fee. Your application will not be reviewed until this fee has been paid. If you do not pay your application fee within 3 weeks of submitting your application, your application will be unsubmitted.

        • Domestic applicants will be required to submit a $70.00 application fee.
        • International application will be required to submit a $90.00 application fee.
